Under the covers, Profound UI works by using a JavaScript framework. You can use this framework directly in your own programs, if desired. When using Profound.js or our Open Access handler, the server-side components call the Profound UI framework automatically, and you need not code it yourself. However, if you want to use Rich Displays from other environments (CGI programs, PHP, and so forth), including our open source runtime offering, you'll need to call the framework yourself.
